Who are we?

Home Language International (HLI) is by far the largest and most efficient organisation offering language learning in the teacher's home. Every year thousands of HLI students from all over the world visit over 30 countries and more than 110 regions, more than double the number offered by our nearest competitor. They learn the language of their choice in the country of their choice, isolated from their native language, living in the home of an excellent teacher and receiving lessons on a one-to-one basis.

We give you the unique opportunity for a full-immersion experience, living with and being taught by your own private teacher. Our teaching is completely different from any other language experience.

SAVE TIME AND MONEY

Learn in record time because you need never meet anyone who speaks your own language. You will very soon be able to think and speak in the language you are learning without stopping to find the correct tense or the exact word you need. It will all come to you naturally and automatically!

All of our teachers have either a university degree (or equivalent) or a recognised teaching certificate, so you will be staying with an educated family who will speak with you outside class hours, during meals and at other times. HLI have over 2,000 excellent teachers in over 30 different countries to welcome you into their families.

England, Ireland, U.S.A, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Russia, China and most other countries worldwide are available. I personally invented the system of learning a language in a private teacher's home when I started in the U.K. under the name Home English Lessons in 1979. Please take advantage of our long experience and let us make sure you learn the language of your choice more rapidly than you ever believed possible!

Yours very sincerely,

bildungsurlaub

In Germany, basically every employee who has been employed full-time in a company for at least 6 months has the legal right of making use of Bildungsurlaub. Within the scope of Bildungsurlaub you are entitled to five working days of educational leave, which you can usually sum up to ten days by combining it with the following year.
There is no entitlement to Bildungsurlaub in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Saxony, and Thuringia. In those cases you should talk to your employer individually in order to clarify whether he would approve Bildungsurlaub. Even in the other federal states, the employer has to approve the course you want to do as it legally has to implicate at least a certain "minimal benefit" for your current workplace.
